Laura Ferland, RD

Why work with me?

It’s common to feel trapped in the cycle of overeating, guilt, and starting over —but you deserve to feel healthy, confident, and in control around food again. I help adults and children heal their relationship with food through compassionate, realistic nutrition support that creates lasting metabolic health without shame, restriction, or perfection. I also work with families to gently navigate picky eating, overeating, and nutrition challenges so children can build healthier habits while parents finally feel supported, hopeful, and less alone.

Background:

Laura is an RD in NYC and NJ with eight years of experience. She earned her Master’s in Nutrition and Food Science (with an emphasis on Nutrition Education) from Montclair State University before completing a specialized dietetic internship in worksite wellness with Wellness Workdays. Her passion for fertility, pregnancy, and early childhood nutrition was sparked during her time with the WIC program, where she supported expectant mothers and young children. Most recently, Laura spent five years spearheading the outpatient nutrition counseling program at CarePoint-Hoboken University Medical Center. There, she wore many hats—counseling patients across a diverse range of complex medical conditions, working on the clinical inpatient team, and serving as a community dietitian hosting interactive cooking demonstrations and wellness presentations.

Specialties:

Pediatrics/Picky Eating, Diabetes/Pre-diabetes/Gestational Diabetes, Heart Health, Weight Management, Pregnancy and Fertility Nutrition, Disordered Eating.

Counseling Philosophy:

Laura rejects the "one-size-fits-all" mentality, opting instead for a holistic, individualized approach. She firmly believes that all foods have a place in a healthy life and that true nourishment should never feel restrictive. By helping clients rebuild trust with their bodies, Laura guides them toward sustainable, life-changing habits that connect nutritional choices to overall well-being. Ultimately, her goal is to help you foster a peaceful, positive relationship with both food and your body.

Personal Interests:

Laura lives for adventures with her husband and two young daughters—whether they are traveling the world, hiking a local trail, or exploring a new museum. On weekends, you can usually find her browsing the local farmers market or testing out fresh new recipes to share with family and friends.
