Markay Bressler

Background:

Markay is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who earned concurrent Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Food Science from The Pennsylvania State University and her Master of Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University. She completed her dietetic internship at Hunter College where she specialized in counseling and eating disorders; and she is in the process of completing her Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) Certification.

She has spent the last 15+ years studying and counseling about the connections between the body and mind; and she has been fortunate to support her clients in navigating each person’s unique wellness journey.

Philosophy:

Markay takes a supportive, encouraging and honest approach to nutritional counseling. She is an empathetic and respectful listener and creative solution seeker; and she is driven by curiosity, compassion and a desire to serve. Markay believes that a personalized and non-judgmental perspective are best when working with people. With these tenets in place, clients are able to openly discuss concerns about the food, body, mind, movement and society. Markay shuns diet-culture and normative societal expectations and instead focuses on finding ways to personalize client’s lives and mindfully moderate choices so clients can accomplish their wellness and life goals. She works to ensure clients have a safe, and brave, space to understand and explore the body and mind's incredible potential so that clients can live their most prolific life.

She is an active member of the NY Chapter of The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp), Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), The Behavioral Health Dietetic Practice Group, Eat Breathe Thrive (a nonprofit organization that helps in the prevention/recovery of eating disorders and mental health challenges), The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), The Yoga Alliance (YA), and The Forte Foundation (a non-profit that is working to change the balance of power in the workplace for women).

Personal Interests:

When not supporting fellow humans, Markay can be found spending time with her life partner and friends as they explore new restaurants, sail the warm, open waters, and dote on her many plant babies.
